Germany, June 2001
Actually this was more of an extended weekend break. So at work I claim it doesn't count as a holiday.
I have not been able to convince the majority. Walter, Fennate and me went to a bungalow park in the Eifel,
that is about 220 miles from home. Not too bad and a good opportunity to try out the 'new' bike.
The first pic is in the picturesque Monschau. The first day gave us fair weather, the day we spent cruising along the Mosel wasn't bad either.
This is W + F alongside the parked bikes. Parking fee duly paid.

The Mosel area is famous for fruity and too-sweet-for-my-taste white wine. Hence all the vineyards.
Very scenic though. On the way back home however it was raining bucketloads. Absolutely soaking
wet when I got home. Which took a while with all the traffic jams. Here is a sorry looking couple
near the Coo Waterfalls in Belgium.

Denmark, Sweden and Norway, August 2001
This time I was again not very fortunate with the weather. As usual during the summer it is very much like
the weather in Holland, but not quite as good / a little bit worse. One of the things that caught my eye
in Denmark on the island of Fyn were the large fields of wheat. And what they still do in Denmark is burn
the fields after the crop has been harvested. Unthinkable in Holland these days!

The Dutch Minister in charge of the Traffic department recently came up with a great idea. On holiday in
Sweden she was well pleased with the absence of traffic jams. Now she thinks it will help prevent traffic jams
if she lowers the speedlimit during rush hour. In Sweden the speedlimit is 110 kph and in Holland 120 kph.
Just look at this shot of the E6, the Swedish motorway leading to Gothenburg. How many braincells does it
take to see that maybe there are just not quite as many cars in Sweden?!?! Next is a typical bit of scenery
in north west Sweden. And the place is absolutely alive with foxes, badgers (mainly flat ones alongside the road)
roe deer and other wildlife. Maybe I'll return if the weather forecast is a bit better.

In November I stayed in a lodge somewhere on the Veluwe. That is an area with quite a lot of old forests
and heather. In autumn colors that guarantees some very scenic views.
