Costa de la Luz, February 2007
It has become a habit to break the winter in half by visiting this area in February. This year I was travelling alone and opted for a packagedeal trip with 2 hours of golf tuition in the morning and a round of golf in the afternoon. It was a lot of fun but a very full schedule. I had not taken golfing lessons since I started playing golf in 1990 or so. I can now solemly declare that that was not a good idea. Your technique does slip over time and when you do try to start from scratch the change in technique does kill your game. Even when your playing off handicap 13 like me. But I'll give it a year and then maybe I'll choose to drop back to my old compensations that will get me around the golfcourse. The Castro Marim golf course has recently opened the new clubhouse. Maybe not as cosy as the old place but certainly a lot bigger and more luxurious.

The golf clinic was nice and relaxed. A mix of experienced and novice golfers. With me almost being the junior it was a mature bunch though, not a frisky young lady golfer in sight. So there's another week wasted, haha!! But seriously, it was an interesting mixture of characters and I had a very good week. No complaints.
Obviously I spent a few hours fishing. Nothing too adventurous because the golfing schedule was busy and time was limited. But a did spend a few hours at the river in Tavira, Portugal. Fishing for mullet. Beautiful fish with very powerful tails. Good entertainment. Sevilla was my other destination on the one day without golf. Although I had actually considered visiting the museum inside the bull fighting arena, I opted for taking a snap shot of the outside and spending the extra time sipping a cold beer elsewhere. Typical, I admit. The other shots are from the Rompido South course, that has some stunning looking holes. And one from the recently opened Rompido North course. Much more open, green and admittedly a little bland. But it is a young course so maybe I'll change my mind about that in a few years. For I'll be back, but probably not in 2008.
