Hawk-Treffen in Pegestorf, 9-11 september 2005

The Pegestorf Hawk meeting is a biannual affair. It was my second visit, you may have seen my previous report on the 2003 event. It was organised by Andreas &friends &family for the 7th time. Fora lot of die-hard Hawkers it is a must on the calendar. Although regrettably some of them were missing this time around. The weather forecast was not too good. However the thunderclouds and downpoors managed to avoid our area and we were blessed with fantastic weather all weekend.

Again a report with little text, point the cursor at the picture and there will pop-up a comment. It strikes me how well maintained the majority of the bikes is. So many great details it is hard to picture them all. But be your own judge. We've also seen some Hawkers without Hawk that just dropped by for a beer a grilled steak and a chat. That all adds to the event.

Why can't I pick a scenic spot? still camping!

there's always one bike facing the wrong way. Yup it's mine... about 35 Hawks and a few other bikes attended

perfect spot for a meeting the same chef as next year, no complaints there

the next morning the campfire is still smouldering the Weser river is only 300 yards away

beautiful Hawk/Bros with Supertrapp exhaust and stunning paintwork need I say more?

This time I arrived on Friday so I wouldn't miss the Saturday rideout. Fantastic back roads with curves that we Dutch can only dream about. And it was proof that Hawks can still fly. It was a bit quick at times.

the Köterberg is a busy destination for rideouts nice view, if a bit hazy

This bike deserves a little more explanation. After all the owner apparently took 7 years perfecting the bike. The fact that the weight is down to 150kgs and that it sports an 840cc Africa Twin based engine seem unimportant when you are just silenced by the details and finishing. the bike that never was but should have been!! minimalistic but who needs more

the very special race NTV was there again Hawks are early birds. 9 am and most have flown out already

Again it was a good meeting and a pity that it is biannual. The good news is that Dirk intends to organise a one-off event in 2006 so we don't all get withdrawal symptoms. I'll make sure that I'll remind him ;-)) The last pic of this year is of Dirk and his son René on their private rideout.

my father never had a motorbike :-((
